We have five types of daylilies:

Species Plants

These are the original daylily species. We have various types and as we investigate each we find significant variation within the species. Despite the many classifications, starting with Stout, we find that the variations must be taken into account of each. We will continue to update the site to provide details on the plants also providing a large a base of photos as we can. There will also be links to other web sites demonstrating what others see in the variations.

Diploids

These are the classic diploids and we have kept a large collection of the early introductions such as Orange Prelude and others where we believe there is significant contribution to the strength of new hybrids. We frequently use the older diploids with new hybrids to hybridize and attempt to introduce new variations.

Tetrapolids

Tetraploids have twice the number of chromosomes as the diploids and they thus have significantly more genetic variation. This we believe significantly increases the complexity of the genetic analysis possible but it also shows what can evolve from these plants.

Telmarc Introductions

These are the Telmarc introductions. We will provide details on the plants and their parentage. We try to better understand the genetic variability of these plants by this process and to provide the user with an understanding of the possibilities which can be made available.

Stout Hybrids
We have been collecting several of the Stout hybrids directly from the New York Botanical Garden collection. We have them plus seeds grown from them. This gives us a time capsule view of what was available seventy years ago.
