The H multiflora is a strong bloomer and we have found it comes in many shades. The one sown below is a yellow. In my discussions with Darrell Apps he recounts from his trips to Korea looking for species that there is significant variation within the species themselves. With multiflora we are growing many new ones from seed and are exploring the color variation.

This shows the heavy branching typical of the multiflora. The H hakuensis is close but not as heavy as the H multiflora.

The flower is a bright yellow and is somewhat small. It is the smallest of the Hemerocallis species. Perhaps since this is the first year of bloom this may be the case. We will look again next year.

Again the flower is shown with the yellow color. It blooms in early July here in northern New Jersey.

This shows the buds which are many.

The roots are bulbous in what we have planted. These are the 2005 roots.
