Coreana is a bit of a mystery. There are speculations that it may be part of another species but we are growing it and it is extremely hardy and a great bloomer. The picture below is the first bloom of an H coreana in 2007. It is a bright yellow, almost chrome like. The bracts will be the identifier.
The picture below shows the scape and the bracts. There is no true branching but there are nine to ten buds per scape.
The picture below shows the scape again and this time with the flower.
The buds are shown below. Note there is no branching and the buds are also not sessile.
The roots of an H coreana are shown below. They are tuberous and not bulbous as would be found in an H fulva. The flowers above are 2007 flowers and this is the 2005 root.
